Our Mission

It's a revolution. A revolution where:

Therapy is trendy, not taboo. We normalize seeking help, making it as cool as grabbing coffee with a friend.

Mental health literacy becomes core education. We equip youth with the knowledge to understand themselves and each other.

Community becomes our safety net. We build inclusive spaces where everyone feels supported and understood.

OUR STORY

A compass gives direction and keeps us on track.

In the fluorescent-lit halls of high school, amidst the pressures of exams and social expectations, the seeds of Compass were sown, not in triumph, but in the quiet struggle of self-discovery. We, the founders, weren't the golden children, the star athletes, or the effortlessly popular. We were the ones grappling with anxiety, depression, and a gnawing sense of isolation. The school counselor's office became a haven, but resources were stretched thin, and the weight of expectation often felt overwhelming.

Compass wasn't born from a eureka moment, but from a shared yearning. We yearned for a space where vulnerability wasn't a weakness, but a strength. Where open conversations replaced hushed whispers. Where seeking help wasn't a stigma, but a sign of courage. It wasn't just about us; it was about the countless others navigating the turbulent waters of adolescence, feeling unseen and unheard.

We weren't superheroes, we were survivors. We didn't have all the answers, but we had the burning desire to share the lifeline we found. Compass, in its initial form, was a hand-drawn roadmap, scrawled with coping mechanisms, self-care tips, and resources we discovered on our own journeys. It was a beacon in the darkness, passed from friend to friend, offering solace and a sense of belonging.

As our network grew, the hand-drawn maps evolved into digital platforms, workshops, and eventually, the comprehensive program you see today. The journey hasn't been easy. We've faced skepticism, funding hurdles, and the ever-present challenge of scaling impact without losing sight of our core values. But with every success story, every student who finds their voice, every school that embraces mental well-being, the fire within us burns brighter.

Compass isn't just a program; it's a testament to the transformative power of shared experience. It's a community built on empathy, understanding, and the unwavering belief that every young person deserves to thrive, not just survive. Come join us on this journey. Share your story, lend your voice, and help us rewrite the narrative for a generation.

The Founders

Joshua Wright
Co-founder and Director of Operations

Small town roots, big city dreams. That's me in a nutshell! Growing up in Southeast America in the deep south, instilled in me a strong work ethic, a genuine connection to community, and a love for starry nights. But the world beckoned, and I answered. Today, I find myself thriving in the technology industry, where my Mechanical Engineering Degree and Tech Certifications help me create systems and push towards the future.

Success is sweet, but it's the journey that truly matters. I'm passionate about family and community, finding joy in giving back and exploring new horizons. I believe in building bridges, not walls, and my door is always open for a good conversation (and maybe a slice of my grandma's famous pie!)

So, whether you're a fellow small-town transplant, a seasoned professional, or just someone looking to connect, let's chat! I'm always up for learning, growing, and making a positive impact.

Kia ora! I'm Arran, a passionate and driven professional from the heart of Aotearoa. With a thirst for knowledge that never quits, I'm always up for a challenge.

I'm not your average nine-to-fiver. I thrive in environments that push me to think outside the box, collaborate with diverse teams, and make a real impact. I'm known for my ability to think creatively, solve problems efficiently, lead with enthusiasm.

But I'm not all work and no play. When I'm not chasing deadlines, you'll find me tackling a new adventure sport, connecting with mates over a good yarn and a flat white, or spending quality time with my family. So, if you're looking for someone who's progressive with a genuine Kiwi can-do attitude, then look no further. I'm always keen to connect and explore new opportunities, so feel free to reach out!
